Used Mini Excavator Buyer Checklist

Look hard before you buy. This list helps you spot trouble.

Walk around it

Look at it cold, before it runs.

  • Cracks in the arm or boom
  • Oil leaks on hoses
  • Worn tracks and rollers
  • Loose pins and bushings

Run it

Start it up. Listen for odd sounds.

Dig a bit. Swing it both ways. Watch for slow or jerky moves.

Check the papers

Lenders will want these too.

  • Serial number matches the plate
  • Hours on the meter
  • Repair log
  • Proof the seller owns it, with no liens

Then ask for a loan

Old or high-hour machines can be harder to finance. See our guide on hours.
